What is the methodology of ‘agile’?

‘Agile’, it is a philosophy that assumes a different way of working and organizing. In such a way that each project is run in sprints that have to be completed and returned in a few weeks. The goal is to develop quality products and services that respond to the needs of clients whose priorities change at an ever increasing rate.

These methodologies were born into the industry in the development of ‘software’, when the companies of this sector, they realized that the traditional way of work slowed down a lot the delivery of the final product. Few processes are usually based on a contract signed, with little communication from the workers, which led to the deliverables of poor quality.

In the year 2001, they met the CEOs of the main companies ‘software’ in Utah. There were common best practices of each company and created the ‘Manifesto Agile’. A model of continuous improvement plan is created, it checks the result and improvement. Something that is constant and rapid, with a delivery time reduced seeking to avoid the dispersion and focus all the attention on a task.

The main advantages of the ‘agile’ are:

  1. Improve the quality of the product/service

There are two features of the Agile Methodologies that make to improve the quality of your product/service:

    – Continuous improvement of the development of the product or service, seen as an integral, interacting continuously with the client, allow you to move forward faster.

    – The proactivity of a motivated team, resulting in the search of the excellence of the product.

    2. The greater the satisfaction of the client/consumer

By involving the client/consumer throughout the process, are more satisfied and committed.

By using the deliverables lives in real-time improvements to the product/service and you feel part of the creation of this.

    3. Commitment on the part of the worker (internal customer)

Teams are motivated and self-managed raising awareness of the team (not group) and facilitates the creativity and innovation of these.

    4. Speed and responsiveness

To shorten production cycles, minimizing also the reaction times and decision-making, resulting in an improvement of the speed.

The ability to review and adapt the project using an agile process allows you to have greater control of the work and enhance the performance in time and costs.

    5. Increased productivity

The assignment of work to different teams and roles, along with the frequent meetings results in an improvement in the productivity.

    6. Improvement costs, and the productivity will direct the ROI

It is evident that a project controlled during its execution and virtually eliminates the possibility of an absolute failure.

By identifying the errors and improvements throughout their development, improve the cost of having to redo work wrong after many hours of work.

    7. Transparency

The client is involved in the work at all times, so that it has control of the work being done.

The work teams held daily meetings to discuss what condition they are in their tasks, what has been done and what remains to be done, and the customer has access to this methodology throughout the process.

This constant interaction between the firm and the client aims to ensure that the final product is what I expected.

In this way it manages to develop products and services of higher quality to meet the needs of some customers whose priorities change at an ever increasing rate to adapt to the needs of the market.
